About the artist
Laura Harvey - member of the Torbay Guild of Artists
My paintings are about holding onto moments that might otherwise slip by unnoticed.
I’m drawn to the everyday — familiar places, quiet moments and the way light and shadow transform an ordinary scene.
Working mainly in oils, I create representational paintings from my own surroundings and experiences, using sketches,
plein-air studies and studio compositions to explore the world around me.
I’m interested not only in capturing the visual details of a scene,
but also the feeling within it — the atmosphere, memory and emotional weight of a particular moment.
Ultimately, I hope my paintings invite people to slow down, notice the beauty in the everyday,
and perhaps recognise something familiar within them.
